Assigning Groups to Accounts Manually

If needed, you can manually assign a group to an account in the financial or tax trial balance. You might need to do this if Engagement cannot make an auto-assignment, the auto-assigned group is incorrect, or the assignment needs to change for another reason.

  • Changes to financial group assignments update the corresponding account type and classification. Financial statements and leadsheets update automatically as well.
  • Changes to the tax group assignment update the Tax Summary Report.

For consolidated engagements, the groups and subgroups list for the Financial trial balance is shared across the parent and all subsidiary entities. If you create a group in one entity, it is available in the other entities as well. Groups must be assigned at the subsidiary level. The Tax trial balance is not available in consolidated engagements at this time, so you cannot make tax group assignments in those engagements.
